Read a great new article featured in the October 2007 issue of "Community Banker". 2004 marked Chelsea Groton's 150th Anniversary. For a century and a half we have been part of our community while at the same time investing in its future by helping the next generation achieve financial success. To celebrate this Anniversary, the bank introduced the Legacy Program by underwriting the FDIC Money Smart curriculum in our local schools and community organizations. Pam Days-Luketich was hired from within the bank to be our full-time Community Education Officer. The bank offers Pam’s expertise and provides teaching materials at no charge to local schools and other participating community organizations Pam has worked at Chelsea Groton Bank for 18 years and has in depth knowledge of the banking industry. With a background in economics and accounting, Pam is now teaching Money Smart classes in nine local high schools and is looking to expand the program in years to come. It is our hope that by teaching our students to better manage their money today, they will become responsible community leaders tomorrow. The Money Smart Program consists of 10 training modules. Created in conjunction with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the program helps young people with little or no banking experience gain a practical understanding of financial matters.
