George W. Strouse: Board of Trustees
Mr. Strouse joined the bank’s Board of Trustees in 1988. As a member of the board, he has led an array of committees to guide the bank in achieving its strategic goals, as well as served as Secretary of the Board.
George Strouse joined Chelsea Groton Bank in 1967. During his extensive banking career with Chelsea Groton, Mr. Strouse held a variety of positions. He served as Auditor in 1970, and was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in 1977. In 1980, he became Vice President and Comptroller. Then in 1984, Mr. Strouse took over as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Strouse became Corporate Secretary and Treasurer in 1988. The following year, he was promoted to Senior Vice President. In 2000, Mr. Strouse was promoted to Executive Vice President, the position he held until he retired from the bank.
Following graduation from Norwich Free Academy, Mr. Strouse continued on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College. He is also a graduate of the Connecticut School of Banking and the Savings Bank Association Symposium for Executive Development.
Mr. Strouse has always been committed to serving his community. Presently, Mr. Strouse serves as a Trustee of the First Baptist Church of Norwich, Director and Treasurer of the Norwich Cemetery Association, Board Member and Treasurer of the ECHO Cancer Foundation, and he is a member of the Norwich Sports Hall of Fame. In the past, Mr. Strouse was a Trustee and Corporator of Norwich Free Academy, President and Treasurer of Otis Library, President of the Norwich Free Academy Alumni Association, Director of the Johnson Home of Norwich, and the Director of Tater’s Charities, Inc.
He and his wife reside in Norwich.
