Introducing Community Heroes Homeownership Program
The service and sacrifice of our local heroes make our community what it is today. Each day on the job, our heroes protect, help, and teach members of the community. In gratitude for their service each day, we are pleased to introduce the Community Heroes Homeownership Program.
Individuals and families who have at least one loan applicant employed as a part-time or full-time police officer, firefighter, EMT, paramedic, nurse or teacher (K-12) may be eligible to purchase a home with only a 1% down payment requirement, and up to $500 off closing costs. There is no requirement that the community hero lives in the same town where he or she works. For more information, contact 860-448-4174.
In addition to the Community Heroes Homeownership Program developed in partnership with mortgage insurance partners, Chelsea Groton also offers affordable lending products through the Veterans Administration, CT Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), Federal Housing Administration (FHA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and down payment assistance and grant programs, including FHLB Equity Builder, HDF SmartMove, and CHFA DAP.
