Chelsea Groton Bank is Making College Possible
Chelsea Groton awards scholarships each year to local high school seniors. Winning students have exemplified community service through their volunteer efforts, have excelled academically, and have exhibited strong leadership skills. The recipients all live in the communities served by Chelsea Groton Bank.
In June 2016, 16 scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, were awarded to: Savannah Byron of East Lyme High School; Arrianna Reyes-Suarez of Fisher’s Island; Justin Marceau of Fitch High School; Mirella Calle of Grasso Technical High School; Sarah Lyn Houle of Griswold High School; Andrew Zemantic of Lyman Memorial High School; Katelyn Banta of Montville High School; Andrew Souza of New London High School; RI Cheng Fend (Brian) of Norwich Free Academy; Alyssia Rathbun of Norwich Technical High School; Emily De La Cruz of St. Bernard High School; Thomas Mann of Stonington High School; Anastasia Amodeo of Waterford High School; Emily Pereira of Westerly High School; Samantha White of Wheeler High School; and Shannon Demers of The Williams School.
“At Chelsea Groton Bank, we strive each day to better the community. Part of our responsibility is to help educate the next generation of young adults so they can continue to improve our communities,” said Pam Days-Luketich, AVP, Community Outreach Officer for Chelsea Groton Bank. “The scholarship recipients are an impressive group of students. We are confident they will do great things in their future, and wish them well as they pursue their college education.”
Since 2007, the scholarship program has supported over 150 local students as they pursue degrees in higher education. The Bank has a long-standing history of investing in the local community through donations of time, talent, and financial resources. This program recognizes students who demonstrate the same commitment.
